Kindimmer Interview + Exclusive mixtape

Who’s currently rocking your world as a producer and why?
Kris Wadsworth is the man for me at the moment. His sound is a perfect mixture of techno filled with house sprinkles here and there that result into a unique acoustic experience that you can dance your ass off with, and not only.
Name one piece of kit or plug-in can you not live without?
Obvious, the greatest kit of them all…my mind!
What do you find hardest to get right when making a track?
Usually, when ideas and creativity really flow, a track comes together quite fast and easy but, there are times that even building a plain drum pattern seems to be too damn difficult.
What sounds do you find are the hardest to create from scratch?
The complicated ones! I generally believe that, if you know your tools very good, you can do just about anything but, you might often get a bit sweaty until you get it right.
Mastering music: yourself or engineer, and why?
I always do a mastered version on my own so i can test the track in clubs and to be used later on as a driver for the mastering technician, who is an essential part of the production chain. It’s important for me though that, the mastering process won’t be a butchering situation but merely a light make up from a person who gets what you’re doing.
Loops? Or programming your beats from single hits?
I always program the rhythm section myself and sometimes i might add a drum loop, edited in a way that will serve my main groove. I don’t really appreciate tracks that are made entirely using sample packs just puzzled together; it’s just no fun for me.
Do you mainly use analogue or digital soft synth sources?
Everything I work with is digital! I won’t comment on which ones i think are better because i simply think that it’s the use that makes the difference and not the tools you’re using.
What’s your opinion on processing the mix bus?
I like to experiment a lot during production and one of my experiments at a time was to produce with a full mastering tools chain on the mix bus. The results were surprisingly good for my taste and i still sometimes work this way but, it is considered to be wrong. However, i strongly believe that, there is no right or wrong when producing music, as long as it is a creative process and the result satisfactory to me, the steps doing it don’t really matter.
Any arrangement secrets you wish to share with us?
Don’t be afraid to mute a sound you think it is the best thing in the track. You will be surprised by the change in mood you might get.
Traktor, Ableton or Serrato? And why?
When I’m djing i only use cd’s but, i have tried both Ableton and Traktor. I think that Traktor has a better algorithm for pitch shifts but, with Ableton the performance can be much more than a dj set. Either way i can’t stand laptop dj’s that are all about ease of use and not creative capabilities. I mean, what’s the point of having all of these tools if you’re going to just press synch and play!
Best club you’ve played at, and why?
Best venue i ever played was not a club! It was a private party on a dreamy beach near my hometown Volos, with some friends and total freedom! Do i need to answer why?!
Any last words for the Danish readers at deephouse.dk?
Let’s all try listen to music as we used to! It seems that nowadays we don’t connect to what we hear as before because we have very easy access to get it and we don’t spend the appropriate time for a listen. Quality over quantity people! Peace!
